SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE THE UN SYSTEM IN ACTION

The Stop TB Partnership consists of more than 900 countries, donors, national and international organizations, government and non-governmental organizations, academics and patient groups, working together to reduce the toll of tuberculosis worldwide and ultimately achieve a world free of tuberculosis.

The Partnership, whose Secretariat is hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland, has seven working groups and is governed by a Coordinating Board. The Stop Partners’ Forum, held every three to four years, is the assembly of the Stop TB Partnership and consists of a consultative meeting of Partner representatives.

1. "Score the Goals" Education Comic Book:

Stop TB is one of the six UN organizations involved in the project "Score the Goals - Teaming Up to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals", a 32-page educational comic book featuring 10 football UN Goodwill Ambassadors who become shipwrecked on an island on their way to playing an ‘all-star’ charity football game. Whilst on the island, the team has to tackle the eight MDGs along their journey towards being rescued. The comic book is primarily aimed at 8-14 year old children and provides a fun interactive way to help them understand, familiarize and reflect about the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as well as inviting them to take action through several activities provided in the adjoining educational guide.
